Gluten free sourdough pancakes are one of our favorite treats on a slow morning when we are home together. With my little one having a gluten sensitivity, we have tried various styles of gluten free pancakes. They always seemed to be dense and even the paleo mixes promising otherwise, had a dense texture to them.

I started working with our gluten free starter in the spring of this year and have grown to love it so much. I love the versatility of the sourdough starter and how much flavor and fluffy texture it gives to our baked goods. Sourdough starters have become quite popular in the year 2020 and I totally see why.

Gluten Free Sourdough Pancakes

For today I will jump right in to sharing this recipe with you all. This recipe is both gluten and dairy free. These pancakes can be eaten fresh or sometimes I will make a few extras to grab as a quick snack during the day. They warm well in a toaster oven.

Gluten Free Sourdough Pancakes

These gluten free sourdough pancakes are simple to make and so delicious! These pancakes turn out fluffy. They are the perfect combination flavors with the subtle sourdough flavor and sweetness of honey!
Servings 10 (approx.) pancakes

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups active sourdough starter
  • 1/4 cup brown rice flour or buckwheat flour
  • 1/4 cup avocado oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Raw Honey
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • **Avocado oil for cooking**

Instructions
 

  • Start by preheating a flat griddle or cast iron skillet on medium heat
  • While the pan is preheating, mix all of your ingredients together in a mixing bowl.
  • Your mixture may seem bubbly, this is okay. mix until the ingredients are combined.
  • Grease the pan with avocado oil.
  • using about 1/2 cup of batter, pour batter in to the pan.
  • Flip the pancake when the edges begin to bubble. About 1-2 minutes.
  • Cook another 1 -2 minutes.
  • Cook the remaining batter.
  • Top with pure maple syrup and/or fresh berries.
